Enrique Hernandez

Guadalajara, México | 1975

His body of work develops through appropriation of different visual archives that then he re-builds giving them a new meaning, most of all through painting; therefore disassembling the narratives coming from cinema, architecture, landscape, art history and social-political systems. He makes so by using visual and material metaphors, always considering the relation that we establish with media and massive images.

Addressing painting through different angles on behalf of contemporary image making, he proposes a thoughtful analysis about visual language, studying the way we interact with images. Then he questions our own creation of the visual world through simulacrum and through contemporary image making. Knowing images impact history and culture, the artist focus on representational foundations.
